Seller: White Pine Goldens

1.  Our puppies have been dewormed at least three times and have had a physical by a licensed veterinarian with a clean bill of health. If the puppy is not found in good health then the buyer shall elect to return the puppy. This does not include worms, fleas, mites, cocci, giardia, or any other parasites, as they are common in dogs and puppies. Every measure of prevention has been taken to the best of our knowledge and ability to prevent any of these common issues.
2.  All necessary care has been taken to only breed the healthiest of dogs with pedigrees that indicate good genetic backgrounds. However, White Pine Goldens offers a two-year warranty on any puppy with clinical signs of hip dysplasia or elbow dysplasia and a preliminary OFA report confirming severe hip dysplasia or grade III elbow dysplasia.  The dog must be showing signs of discomfort.  A dog can have a grade II elbow dysplasia and still lead a normal, comfortable life.  A dog can have moderate hip dysplasia and lead a normal life with no sign of discomfort.  This puppy is guaranteed against severe crippling hip dysplasia, described by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals as the seventh level of dysplasia where dysplasia is so extreme that surgery or euthanasia is indicated.   A copy of the x-ray must be furnished to White Pine Goldens and if we determine that the dog was poorly positioned, we reserve the right to require the dog to be re-x-rayed by a vet of our choice. Breeder will not warranty osteochondritis dissecans (OCD). The puppy is also warrantied until the age of two years for a heart murmur that will cause decreased quality of life after the dog is one year of age as murmurs can come and go, especially in puppies.  If there is a heart murmur, the diagnosis must be confirmed by a letter to breeder from a reputable licensed veterinary cardiologist stating that in his/her opinion this condition is congenital. If there is an eye defect of cataracts or PRA, the diagnosis must be confirmed by a letter to breeder from a reputable licensed veterinarian ophthalmologist stating that in his/her opinion this condition is congenital. In the event of a confirmed genetic defect as listed above, the buyer can return the dog to the breeder for a refund of $2000 (full sale price of the dog not including transportation costs. Vet bills are not covered).   We also reserve the right to acquire DNA to determine that the dog or puppy is one of our lineages. Puppy must be returned to the breeder at buyer’s expense. Breeder will not be held liable for any expenses incurred by buyer, including but not limited to veterinarian bills and transportation costs.
3.  All puppies are examined by a licensed veterinarian and given a clean bill of health before they leave our home. To the best of the breeder’s knowledge, this puppy has no known diseases or illnesses that would adversely affect their health. This puppy is guaranteed to be free of untreatable health conditions. If your puppy is found to have a disease that is untreatable or found to have a hereditary disease, then a letter from the licensed veterinarian stating so must be presented to the seller.  In this case, the puppy will be returned to the seller and a refund of $2000 will be given to the buyer at that time, thus ending this contract entirely. This refund does not include any expenses incurred by the buyer or by the buyer’s veterinarian. The breeder will not be held liable for any expenses incurred by the buyer, including but not limited to veterinarian bills and shipping. Relocation, travel, and separation from their litter mates can stress a puppy causing the puppy to not eat properly for a few days. This should clear up in a few days.  Stress can bring out certain treatable conditions which would not be included as a reason for a puppy’s return to the breeder.
4.  Breeder is not responsible if puppy contracts a communicable disease after leaving our property or during puppy pick up (due to contamination from pickup visitors) or has any reactions from vaccinations.
5.  Buyer agrees that by signing this contract, they give the Breeder full permission and authorization to speak to, request documents, disclose, and release, without restriction, all of the puppy’s health information and medical records regarding any past, present, or future medical condition from any veterinarian or technician that has treated this puppy at any time.
6.  We only breed the most intelligent, loving, and friendly dogs. However, due to environmental, early spay and neuter, and training issues out of our control, once the puppy leaves our home, breeder cannot warranty the temperament of the puppy. Buyer agrees to make all reasonable efforts to properly socialize the puppy.
7.  Breeder does not guarantee color, size, or look of any puppy.

Initials of Breeder___________ Initials of Buyer(s)/Owner(s)___________

1. The puppy is not being purchased for resale, will never be sold to a pet shop or puppy mill, and will never be used for scientific research. If the buyer determines that he/she can no longer care for the puppy/dog or keep the dog for any reason, he/she will return at owner’s expense the puppy/dog to White Pine Goldens for them to either keep or find another home for at their discretion.
2. Buyer is not to register the puppy under any pet registry, other than American Kennel Club (AKC) without breeder’s permission.
3. Buyer will feed only premium, high quality foods. Preferrably Diamond Naturals, American Natural Premium, Fromm, Infinia by Purina Mills, Exclusive by Purina Mills, Hill's Science Diet, or Royal Canine.
4. The puppy will never be bred.
5. Buyer will provide adequate housing for their dog away from the elements. The dog will receive hours of attention every day. Golden Retrievers are social animals and thrive on the love of their owners. A Golden Retriever left alone for long periods of time could develop bad habits out of boredom and loneliness.
6. Buyer will use the prefix White Pine at the beginning of the dog’s official name and will give their dog an official name according to the naming convention of the litter. Your puppy’s call name can be whatever you like.
7. Buyer either owns his/her own home or has received permission from his/her landlord to own a dog.
8.  Buyer understands that Golden Retrievers are prone to Hip and Elbow Dysplasia and that White Pine Goldens has done its due diligence in providing this puppy a good genetic chance of not acquiring Hip or Elbow Dysplasia, but buyer also understands that there is an environmental component to the development of Hip and Elbow Dysplasia.  Buyer also understands there is an environmental component to the development of osteochondritis dissecans (OCD). Buyer understands that to avoid injury or stress-trauma occurring to this dog’s bones and joints, prior to reaching two (2) years of age, this dog should not be jogged, tread-milled, or force-exercised; go up and down more than half flights of stairs (over 8 steps);  play roughly with older dogs or children; stand on his/her back legs for extended periods of time; play wild tennis ball games with chasing and retrieving (especially on slippery floors or wet grass and with balls thrown further than 15-20 feet); jumping in and out of vehicles; or chase frizbees.  Failure to comply with this will nullify the guarantee on hips and elbows.   In addition, White Pine Goldens will not be held responsible for osteochondritis dissecans (OCD).  Puppies need exercise, but excessive, wild exercising is not only hard on the joints, it creates a hyper dog.
9. White Pine Golden’s guarantee is for two years in which no dog is to be neutered or spayed before the dog is one and a half years of age.  Typically our dogs are not overly aggressive, they are not highly sexed, and they will not wander the neighborhood or mount everything in sight.  It changes the dog so much, not only in appearance, but in temperament as well.  Neutering increases the risk of a thyroid problem which causes obesity, laziness, coat, and skin problems.  In addition, research shows White Pine Goldens cannot guarantee the puppy’s joints will not be affected by this seemingly simple medical procedure.  Spay and neuter and joint disease are now shown to be related, and this surgery has the capability of permanently changing a healthy puppy joint into an unhealthy one.  Your vet might try to say that it will prevent a prostate problem in the future.  A dog has just as great a chance developing a prostate problem as a man would, and a man is not castrated “just in case.”  Also, it is the mentality in the United States that a responsible pet owner spays and neuters their dog, when in fact, a responsible pet owner does not let their dog wander the neighborhood and does not let their dog breed another.  In Europe, where the Golden originated, spaying and neutering is far less common, and people take their dogs with them everywhere, including public transportation.
10.  Buyer is required to send once yearly updates concerning the dog.  These updates should include photos of the dog.  Also included should be explanation of any health or temperament issues, which helps us with our breeding program in addition to a general update of how the dog is doing.  Buyer agrees that Breeder may use the photos and any particulars of qualifying awards on our website or social media to give other buyers an idea of what we produce.  We will not use names.  We are proud of all of our puppies and like to show them off!
11.  Buyer will notify Seller of any change of their street address, email address, or phone number, so Seller can stay in contact with Buyer throughout this dog’s lifetime.

Initials of Breeder/Seller_________ Initials of Buyer(s)/Owner(s)_________

1.  Buyer has permitted the dog to be underfed or overfed at any time. Recent research shows that diet and physical condition is a major contributor and many times is even the cause of hip and joint problems in large dogs. Although these things can be caused by genetics; poor diet, over feeding, and improper exercise of a puppy/dog are known contributors to these disorders. A dog is underfed if his ribs are highly visible. A dog is overfed if he has no waist when viewed from above or if his belly is rounded when viewed from the side. (Consideration should be taken for thickness of coat when viewing.)
2.  There is evidence of neglect or abuse.
3.  Injuries have occurred while under the care of the buyer, such as a broken bone, trauma, etc.
4.  Dog has been bred.
5.  Dog has been fed anything other than a premium, high quality dog food. (no Walmart or grocery store brands)
6.  Buyer has not complied with the following, prior to the dog reaching two (2) years of age:  this dog should not be jogged, tread-milled, or force-exercised; go up and down full flights of stairs;  play roughly with older dogs or children; stand on his/her back legs for extended periods of time; play wild tennis ball games with chasing and retrieving (especially on slippery floors or wet grass and with balls thrown further than 15-20 feet); or chase frizbees.  Failure to comply with this will nullify the guarantee on hips, elbows, and shoulders.
